HOW LONG IS KATANA ZERO SERIES
But once you pour some time into it and really get used to the gameplay mechanics, things start to slow down and the game becomes this wonderful series of strategic choices that you can make on the fly. You have no health, so if you get hit once… that’s it. This is especially true on the harder difficulty which really tests your mettle and throws a few new enemies at you (and a crap ton of regular enemies too!). I did feel like at certain times I was fighting the controls a bit but overall it was just an immensely enjoyable experience and once I really put some time in I got the hang of it and it became even more fun to play. And above all, the gameplay is fast, smooth, and so so satisfying when you master the mechanics. The music, the story, the pixel art… it’s all fantastic. And above all, the gameplay is fast, smooth, and so so Man what a fantastic game. After completing Hard Mode, Normal is going to feel like child’s play to you.įYI… This profile does not have the achievement, so don’t be bothered.Man what a fantastic game. I also recommend that people do their Hard Mode run first and then tackle the speed run. Once you nail the room once or twice, it’s time to Dash/Quit your game a few times and reload so you can try to execute it for the run. So long as you DO NOT enter the next area. Now you can kill every enemy and die as many times as you like and just hit your Quick Restart button. Do this by binding the Quick Restart to one of your buttons in the controller setting. This means that you can even hang around in any room practicing for as long as you like during your actual speed run. The game saves only at the beginning of each room.

Feel free to throw in some slow mo here and there aswell, I did but not too often. You won’t be able to keep up with him but personally I was able to execute 95% of his strats, albeit a little slower. I highly recommend using the videos from Youtuber Kainalo. I just put down a time of 23 minutes doing so and unlocked the achievement. I don't know why but the times to finish for gold medals are brutal and leave almost no room for error. It's incredibly easy to mess up during the final half of the game and even a small error can be enough to tilt you.īut above all: Good luck. Try not to rely on it too much as it needs to recharge after firing. Master sword is identical to the katana and prism sword, only it fires a projectile that can kill any unarmored enemy.
Either use the standard katana or master sword. Don't use the gimmick swords like claymore or phoenix. There is still some room for mistakes though as you can see from my scores. A platinum medal is only awarded for a gold time run + 0 deaths. Apparently deaths do matter when it comes to platinum medals. What's most important is completion time. All in all, dying doesn't matter too much. They usually have perfect routes and a few other tricks I didn't mention (small exploits to get a few seconds of advantage)
I only used it against shotgunners and the shield guys + against most bosses. The timer still moves at normal speed, even if you use slow mo so it's a huge waste of time. This should give you some room to mess up later on. I find that it's easiest to get a platinum medal for Factory, Hotel and Prison. You should take advantage of the fact that the first few levels are easy. These are the times I achieved for a gold run. I have no idea if the final time has any bearing on the final medal. I believe the game averages out the medals at the end to give you the final score.
All that counts is the amount of gold (or even better, platinum) medals you collect through the run. There are no fixed times/deaths for gold medals, you just have to play through and get lucky at the end. It's also a massive help against the final boss since you can hit her with it while she charges her beam. In think it's easily the best of them since the projectile usually hits enemies behind doors if you hit them open. You can also change the swords (if you unlocked them). Enable Action Only, disable Cutscenes, enable skip replay, show timer and death count. There are a few options you can enable/disable.
This is just for preference though, it has no bearing on completion times.Īfterwards, go back to the main menu and hit the speedrun button. I left hit pause at 50% and disabled screen shake completely. Before you attempt this, go to settings and play around with screen shake and hit pause. You unlock speedrun mode after you beat the game once.
